Modi’s Decision of Launching #kisanrail Wins India’s Heart

PM Narendra Modi on 28th December flagged off the hundredth kisan rail service of Indian railways via video conferencing. The service is destined to be from Sangola, Maharashtra to Shalimar, West Bengal.

The Kisan Rail Train service will carry vegetables and commodities and transport them to the destination. The commodities such as vegetables such as cauliflower, chillies, onion, cabbage, capsicum, drumsticks, as well as fruits such as bananas, grapes, pomegranate, custard apple, oranges, etc will be carried and transported.

The Modi government has also said that they understand the importance of the service and since it is favourable to the farmers, the service will be carried out frequently (weekly to three days a week) in order to benefit Indian farmers. In order to mark the dependency of farmers, Kisan Rail service in future will run with multi-commodities and will include multiple cognisance and consignees.

India applauded the step and twitter flooded with #kisanrail.

The Kisan Rail Train service shall be operated between fixed Origin – Destination pairs with enroute halts, as well as loading and unloading shall be permitted at any of the enroute stoppages. The Origin – Destination pairs, halts, routes, and frequency of the Kisan Rail train shall be jointly decided by the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

The first Kisan Rail train service of Indian Railways was launched on 7 August 2020, from Devlali to Danapur, which was further extended up to Muzaffarpur.

The service is a great step towards easy and fast transportation and unstoppable supply chain.
