New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Resigns from her Role; Receives 33.2% Negative Sentiments from Online Audiences: CheckBrand

Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand, made the shocking announcement that she is stepping down while also announcing that the country will hold elections in October of this year.

Ardern stated that she "no longer had enough in the tank" to perform the job at the party's annual caucus meeting on Thursday. It is now, she said.

“I'm leaving because of the responsibility that comes with a privileged position. The duty to recognise when you are qualified to lead and when you are not I am aware of what this job entails. And I understand that I'm running out of gas to do it justice. That's how easy it is”, she said.

Until the election later this year, she will remain a member of parliament. Her term as prime minister will end no later than February 7.

"I am a human, and so are politicians. For as long as we can, we give everything we have. Then the time comes. And it's time for me," she said. Over the summer break, Ardern said she thought about whether or not she had the stamina to carry on in the position and came to the conclusion that she did not.
