#NewAntiConversionLaw sparks controversies again

The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance, 2020 (Hindi: Uttar Pradesh Vidhi Virudh Dharma Samparivartan Pratishedh Adhyadhesh, 2020) popularly known to us as the "love jihad" law was enacted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 28th November 2020.

Since its inception, the particular law has attracted loads of criticism and has become a trending topic on the social media platforms under the hashtag #LoveJihadLaw:

The most recent trend came form the case of Pinky aka Muskan Jahan who reportedly suffered a miscarriage after she was booked under the new anti-conversion law for marrying a man named Rashid. Social Media Platforms bursted with reactions over this news:

However, reacting to the media reports, the Child Protection Commission took recognition of the matter but found that the news was fake. The officials also alleged this as a conspiracy to defame the government. The Chairman, Dr Vishesh Gupta said Pinki, who is three-month pregnant, did not suffer a miscarriage. He further went on to assert that the organization posesses evidence to prove that she was "still three months- pregnant".

The recent incident has initiated a tussle between many organziations and the government. Conspiracy theories along with some amount of fake news have been attributed to this incident. As the skirmishes continue we can hope that justice is not delayed.
