#NewParliamentforNewIndia: Trending & Shattering the decades old colonial influence
More than 200 invited dignitaries flooded the #NewParliament for the foundation stone laying ceremony in what is termed as one of the most remarkable projects by the current government. Our four storeyed new Sansad would sprawl in an area of 64,500 square metres. Being constructed at an estimated cost of over ₹900 crores and will have a seating capacity for 888 Members in the Lok Sabha chamber with an option to increase to 1,224 members during the joint sessions. However, it is foolhardy to presume that in a democratic system like India any decision by the state mechanism would go completely unchecked. Netizens took to twitter to express their excitement but also crticized the step terming it as unnecessary during the times of global recession induced by the COVID-19 pandemic:
Furthermore, checkbrand.online, the first of its kind in India registered 2.17 thousand trends on the eventful morning for the Prime Minister. A considerable amount of which can be attributed to the newly inaugrated Parliament building.
It is noteworthy to mention that the redevelopment of the "power corridor of India" has been halted by the Honorable Supreme Court till further orders, however, it did allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the new Parliament building. Government has promised to abide by the ratifications made by the court. The work on the Central Vista project is expected to be completed by 2024 when the next general elections take place in India. This new earthquake-proof building would showcase the cultural diversity of India along with the promotion of principles of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
