Reliance Says No To Corporate Farming, Steps Up To Support Farmers

After telecom towers being vandalised allegedly by the devastated farmers, today Reliance industries approached the Punjab and Haryana court and asked the court to punish the miscreants.

The Reliance Industries took this action after an incident when around 9,000 Jio towers were damaged in Punjab and nearby areas. According to the sources, the towers were put to rest sans any authority and were damaged, hit and broken.

RIL went to the Punjab and Haryana court and demanded complete intervention of the court to stop illegal acts of vandalism and teach lessons to the miscreants.

In a statement, RIL said "These acts of violence have endangered the lives of thousands of its employees and caused damage and disruption to the vital communications infrastructure, sales and service outlets run by its subsidiaries in the two states," the statement said, adding that those "indulging in vandalism have been instigated and aided by vested interests and our business rivals."

"Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio Infocomm, or any other affiliate of our parent company, ie, Reliance Industries have not done any 'corporate' or 'contract' farming in the past, and have absolutely no plans to enter this business," the statement said, also denying any purchase of land in Punjab or Haryana with that purpose in mind. "We at Reliance have immense gratitude and the greatest respect for India's kisans, who are the 'anna data' of 1.3 billion Indians," the statement read.

The industry also mentioned that they do not have any connections or beneficial bits with the newly launched farm bills 2020.

RIL immediately tossed any benefits from the farm bills and said they have zero interest in corporate farming.

After Reliance’s no to corporate farming, twitter is filled with #reliancewithannadatta.

People who then claimed the Ambanis will benefit from the farm bills and are supporting the Modi government have been searching for reasons to now support RIL or blaming Reliance to play petty politics.

Amarinder Singh, Punjab CM has made clear that the miscreants should be punished and also urged the local police to keep a keen eye on them making sure that the incident does not happen again.

Reliance industries further claimed “Neither reliance nor its subsidiaries have bought any agricultural land, directly or indirectly in Punjab/Haryana or elsewhere in India for the purpose of contract or corporate farming. We have absolutely no plans to do so.”

Supporting the farmers, it said "We at Reliance have immense gratitude and the greatest respect for India's kisans, who are the 'ANNA DATA' of 1.3 billion Indians. Reliance and its subsidiaries are committed to do everything to support and empower them. As customer of their services, we believe in building a strong and equal partnership with Indian farmers on the basis of shared prosperity, inclusive development and an equitable New India. Indeed we shall insist our suppliers to strictly abide by the MSP mechanism and/or any other mechanism for a remunerative price for farmproduce, as may be determined and implemented by the government.”

Recently Reliance conducted #cropinsuranceawarenessprogram in Haryana.

The program was aimed to spread awareness & highlighting the features of #PMFBY to the farmers of Parbhani, Wardha, Washim, Nagpur, Nandurbar, Kolhapur, Buldhana, Sangli, Jalna and Gondiya districts of Maharashtra through Audio-Video Campaign for their enrollment in #PMFBY Maharashtra Rabi 2020-21.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana launched on 18 February 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an insurance service for farmers for their yields.
