Twitter Floods With #नरेंद्र_तोमर_इस्तीफा_दो After Tomar’s Remarks on Farmer Protests

As the farmers protests ameliorates in the country and farmers continue to stress about the three farm bills, several ministers have spoken against or in favour of the farmers.

Amidst farmers following protests, twitter flooded with #farmactgamechanger and #westandwithfarmers.

On 8th December, Indian farmers announced Bharat Bandh which was quite successful after different individuals and political parties stood with them demanding revocation of the three bills.

But something that’s being a concern for the farmers is some of the leaders agitating against the ‘food gods’ of the country while calling them anti-nationals, Khalistani and what not.

Narendra Tomar, the Union Agriculture Minister has recently come up with an absurd statement that made his presence exceptional on twitter but in a negative way.

Tomar, in an interview with Hindustan said ‘The government has successfully initiated dialogue but the farmers’ union have not been able to reach at a unanimous decision. The news which has emerged in the last two days are astounding. Those who believe in the Left ideology are influencing these protests. Attempts are being made to release traitors. This is condemnable and these elements are stopping the movement from arriving at a verdict. And these elements are not farmers, but those who are against Modi.’

He criticized farmers protests expressing his concern over the anti-Modi elements in the protests.

He further claimed that the laws will benefit farmers and are implemented in their positive interest. In the same interview he said, only the Punjab and Haryana farmers are protesting which makes the protest nullable.

“The government intends for the farmers to get maximum price for their produce and enable them to buy licenses in the market, eliminating the role of middlemen. This would result in increased competition and more profit for the farmers.”

“The mandi systems in Punjab and Haryana are very strong and decentralised and farmers in these states fear that the laws will alter them. Farmers in other states have welcomed the laws, they even wanted to come to Delhi to show their support but we stopped them in the hope that dialogue will solve the current deadlock.”

Tomar also disagreed Congress for their support to farmers.
