The propounder of the KHAM theory which stands for  Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslim, former Extrenal Affairs Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Gujarat for three times, Madhav Singh Solanki passed away on the 9th of January.

Solanki, who belonged to Borsad town in Anand district, lived in Gandhinagar and died at his residence during his sleep, official Congress sources said.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani also paid his tributes:

The Chief Minister has also declared a day of state mourning. He also cancelled his public event in Mahisagar district and would chair a council of ministers meeting at Gandhinagar to pass a condolence resolution.

An astute politician, Solanki was a member of the legislative assembly of the Bombay state in 1957-60 and then of the Gujarat legislative assembly from 1960-68. He became the chief minister of Gujarat for the first time in 1976. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1988 to 1994, during which he held the portfolios as union minister of Planning and External Affairs.

In the year 1981, when the upper caste people led by the Patels protested against the reservation policy, it was Solanki who helped calm the agitation by seeking assitance from the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Checkbrand team pays its tribute to the former Chief Minister of Gujarat and the veteran politician Madhav Singh Solanki and hopes that his legacy guides the nation forever.
