Farmers Announces Rail Roko Andolan Today, Centre Demands Peace

Fielders' organisations, which continue their campaign against central farming rules, will run a nationwide railroko program for 4 hours on Thursday.

Jagtar Singh Bajwa, spokesman for the Kisan Andolan Committee on the Ghazipur border, said on 18 February, from 12 noon to 4 pm, they were going to hold pacifist protests during the 'Rail Roko' scheme.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) called for a peaceful demonstration, with the aim of gaining country-wide support for it.

"Appeal to everyone for a peaceful protest in nationwide 'Rail Roko' program on February 18 from 12 noon to 4 pm," it said.

The SKM requested that the government address the problems of farmers without further delay immediately.

"Samyukt Kisan Morcha has taken notice, along with the Cabinet and the other Ministers including Amit Shah, Narendra Singh Tomar, Sanjeev Baliyan and others, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JP Nadda's high-level meeting with elected party leaders and others from Haryana, UP, Punjab and Pajasthan.

SKM opposes this attitude of the ruling party and requests that the government resolve the problems of the farmers immediately without delaying them. SKM hopes that it will intensify the fight and mobilize more farmers to support them,"It is clear that instead of resolving the ongoing struggle's demands, BJP is trying its best to counter and destroy it. SKM condemns this attitude of the ruling party and demands that the government resolve the farmers' issues immediately without any further delay. SKM vows that it will intensify the struggle and mobilise more farmers in its support,"It is not clear, but rather it will try to counter and to destroy it instead of resolving demands of the ongoing fight.

The SKM also condemned Vishva Hindu Parishad's (VHP) alleged attack on Wednesday on a peaceful protest organized in Muzaffarpur by All India Krishak Khet Majdoor Sangathan.

In the light of this protest, Railways has deployed 20 additional companies in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and the West Bengal Special Force for railway security.

The three new agricultural legislation (Promotion and Facilitation) of the Farmers' Trade and Commerce Act, 2020; Farmers' Empowerment & Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance & Agricultural Services Act 2020; the Essential Commodities Act, 2020), have been protesting at the various frontiers of the national capital since November last year.
