India Sends Humanitarian Support to Turkey and Syria after Destructive Earthquakes, Envoys Thank the Government

In four military heavy lift aircraft, India on Tuesday sent specialised search and rescue teams with dog squads, an army mobile hospital team, and relief supplies to Turkey, where the death toll from Monday's enormous earthquake is still rising.

According to those with knowledge of the situation, a second C-130 Hercules military plane carrying aid was scheduled to fly to Syria.

A C-17 Globemaster aircraft was used to transport more than 50 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), specially trained dog squads, drilling equipment, relief supplies, medications, and other supplies early on Monday. One of the Turkish cities affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake was Adana, where the flight landed.

More NDRF teams with dog squads, search and rescue tools, vehicles, and extrication equipment were transported on the second C-17.

A 99-member team from the Indian Army's army field hospital in Agra, which will open a 30-bed medical facility, was also transported on the four flights. The team is made up of orthopaedic and general surgeons as well as critical care specialists, and it is furnished with tools like X-ray machines, ventilators, an oxygen production facility, and other things.
