Nation celebrates 73rd Indian Army Day

15 January 1949 was the day when the Indian army got its first army chief, Lieutenant General KM Cariappa. KM Cariappa took over the  the reins of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander in Chief of India. General Cariappa is one of the only two Field Marshal's of the country, the other being Sam Manekshaw.

The transfer of this power marks the advent of the Army Day, to pay homage to our brave martyrs and fallen heroes. This year marks the 73rd Indian Army Day and the army has planned to organise a marathon 'Vijay Run' to commemorate "Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations" of India's absolute victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
The army also posted the list of bravehearts who lost their lives in the previous year of 2020 in the line of duty:

Several eminent personalities including the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, the Honorable President of India. took to the social media platform twitter to tweet and greet regarding the event:

General Mukund Narvane, the Chief of the Army Staff, also posted his address to the armed forces of the country:

The chief has also stated on record recently about the inclusion of women in "pilot training" commencing July 2021.
Checkbrand wishes all our bravehearts and our countrymen on the glorious occasion of Army Day. May their spirit of sacrifice be an inspiration to all of us.
